Real quick: Cheats are for single-player only. Using 'em might nuke your Steam achievements. Some commands can also do weird things to your save files. Always save before you start messing around — don't say I didn't warn you.

How to Use Cheats

Paralives has a built-in cheat console, and accessing it is dead simple:

Commands take effect instantly. Some of 'em need you to have a Parafolk selected first (like skill or need commands), so make sure you've clicked on whoever you're trying to affect.

Quick Note on Commands

Commands aren't case-sensitive, so don't stress about caps. Anything in brackets like [amount] needs to be replaced with an actual number. All commands below are confirmed working as of Early Access launch (May 25, 2026).`n`n

Debug Menu

Typing debug_mode into the console unlocks a whole extra menu of options:

Content creator secret weapon: Debug mode is insanely good if you make videos or write stories in Paralives. You can set up complex scenes in minutes instead of hours. I use it constantly for my screenshot runs — no shame in that game.

Cheat Tips

  1. SAVE FIRST. Always. I'm not kidding — some commands have side effects you won't see coming. Keep a clean save before you start experimenting.
  2. motherlode is your building buddy. Wanna build that mega-mansion you've been dreaming of but don't wanna grind 200 hours for it? motherlode. You're welcome.
  3. Fill needs before skill grinding. Use fill_all_needs right before a skill session — your Parafolk learns way faster when they're not hungry/tired/miserable.
  4. Screenshot mode = debug mode. Seriously, the control it gives you over scenes is unmatched. Perfect lighting, perfect poses, perfect timing.
  5. aging off for legacy players. If you want your founding generation to live forever (I don't blame you), this is how you do it. They'll never age out while this is on.
  6. Select your target first. Commands that affect individual Parafolks (skills, needs, relationships) usually need that Parafolk selected in-game before the command works. Click on them first, then type the command.

Achievement killer alert: Using cheats will almost certainly disable Steam achievements on that save file. If you care about achievement hunting, keep a separate "clean" save that's never touched a cheat command. Don't learn this the hard way like I did.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I open the cheat console?
Hit Ctrl+F1 during gameplay and the cheat console pops up. Type your command, hit Enter, done. Some commands take a number parameter (like PRINTMONEY 5000 for 5k). Easy peasy.
What are the money cheats?
JACKPOT ($50,000), LOTTERY (random amount — gambling in my life sim? don't mind if I do), MAKEITRAIN ($10,000), PAYDAY (daily salary), PIGGYBANK ($1,000), PRINTMONEY [amount] (set exact amount), SETMONEY [amount], CLEARBILLS (bye bye bills). Honestly JACKPOT is all you'll need 99% of the time.
Are there need cheats?
RELIEFALLNEEDS (fills everything — instant mood fix), RELIEFALLNEEDSOFALLCHARACTERS (everyone in household, very OP), RELIEFNEED [name], SETNEED [name] [value], CHANGENEED [name] [amount], SHOWNEEDS (check current values). RELIEFALLNEEDS is the one I use most — it's basically a reset button for when your Parafolk is having the worst day ever.
