Melino is the open-world town where your Parafolks live, work, and play. It's the first playable world available at Paralives' Early Access launch, featuring between 50 and 70 lots across four distinct districts. The town is inspired by real-world locations — Old Town draws from Old Quebec in Quebec City, while the Industrial district mirrors the neighborhoods of Montreal.
Melino is a seamless open world — your Parafolk can walk from their front door to the coffee shop, through the park, up the mountain trail, and to the beach without encountering a single loading screen. This creates a truly immersive living experience unlike any other life simulation game.
Town Facts
50–70 lots at launch · 4 distinct districts · No loading screens · 3 official mascots · Public bus system · Train station in Old Town · Museum with gift shop
The 4 Districts
Old Town
A densely populated, European-inspired area featuring townhouses made of stone and a small castle built when the city was first established centuries ago. The Old Town is the cultural and historical heart of Melino, featuring narrow streets, the train station, Castle Plaza (home to Town Events), and many permanent shops. The inspiration is Old Quebec in Quebec City.
Industrial
A district that reflects Melino's industrial history, featuring factories and brick houses from an era when the town was a manufacturing center. Some buildings have been abandoned while others have been renovated into modern lofts. This area has a gritty urban charm with hidden gems among the older architecture. Inspired by Montreal.
Mountain
The mountain district is separated from the town center by a large chasm, accessible via hiking trails — there are 3 main trails climbing the mountain, one accessible at the end of the paved road. This area features the Mountain Top park (Astronomy Club location), scenic overlooks, and a lighthouse landmark. Nature lovers and fitness enthusiasts will spend a lot of time here.
Countryside
Big lots with plenty of building space make the Countryside perfect for players who want room to build sprawling estates and hobby farms. The pastoral landscape offers a peaceful contrast to the busy town center, with rolling hills and open sky. Perfect for Parafolks who want rural tranquility while still being part of the Melino community.

Public Buildings
Note on Rabbit Holes: Some buildings (schools, workplaces, hospital, fire station) are "rabbit holes" at Early Access launch — your Parafolk enter but you don't follow them inside. Full interior access for these locations is planned for future updates during Early Access.
Transportation
Public Bus System
Melino has a public bus system with stops throughout town. Buses provide fast travel between any two stops — a trip costs a flat P3 Paradimes regardless of distance. The bus line is called PL130. Bus stops are scattered across all districts, making it easy to get around quickly.
Train Station
The Old Town district features a working train station with visible railroad tracks across several districts. Trains are part of the town's visual atmosphere, though specific gameplay mechanics around rail travel may expand in future updates.
Walking
For short distances, walking remains the most immersive option. Your Parafolk can walk everywhere — from home to the coffee shop, through the mountain trails, to the beach. Running to destinations also slowly levels up the Fitness/Exercise skill.
Town Mascots
Melino has three official mascots, all featured on items sold at the Museum gift shop:
- Hector — A friendly beaver in ranger uniform
- Amber — An anthropomorphized gemstone (represents gemstone collectibles)
- August — An anthropomorphized mushroom (represents mushroom collectibles)
Gift shop items bearing "I MLN" and "Greetings from Melino" can be purchased as souvenirs of your time in town.
Hidden History
Melino is rich with discoverable history. As you explore, you'll find visual storytelling that reveals the town's past:
- Tax-dodging windows: Some old buildings have closed-off windows — historically, houses were taxed by the number of windows, so residents bricked them up to avoid higher taxes.
- Cable history: Loose electrical cables on old building walls trace the transition from early cable TV to modern infrastructure.
- Vandalism: On May 6, 2026, screenshots revealed instances of vandalism around town — a broken bench, a destroyed bus stop, and graffiti reading "CHEATER!" near a residence. The cause remains unexplained.
Exploration Tips
- Check every district. Each area has different collectible spawn pools, scenery, and hidden details. Don't stick to just Old Town.
- Use the bus for distant locations. P3 for instant travel is a bargain. Save walking for when you want skill XP or scenic routes.
- Visit the Museum early. The Museum gift shop has unique items and is a major collection milestone location.
- Walk the mountain trails. The hiking trails are scenic, provide Exercise XP, and lead to the Astronomy Club location.
- Discover town history. Pay attention to building details as you explore — the environmental storytelling reveals Melino's rich past.
- Sunday Market at Castle Plaza. The Old Town's Castle Plaza hosts the Weekend Market every Sunday. Make it a weekly routine.
